The author of the study, Henner Lüttich of the German firm of Contor Gesellschaft für Grundbesitz- Baubetreuung-Investitionen GmbH, received an invitation from ecopoint to give a lecture on the comparison of the locations of Germany and Austria and on the comparison of European regions in the high technology sector.

The results for St. Pölten in summary:
1,207 regions in all 25 EU member states were compared with regard to the orientation of the location in 3 typical sectors:

• Classic industrial firms
• High-tech companies
• Service companies

In the high-tech companies sector St. Pölten occupies 21st place.
In the industrial firm sector it is in 96th place.

Interesting results were achieved in the direct comparison of Germany and Austria in the high-tech area. All 35 Austrian regions are ahead of the 441 German regions. St. Pölten is in 4th place among the top ten.
3 reasons for the good result are:

• Longer annual working hours (A: 1,750 hours, D: 1,586 hours)
• Lower taxes on earnings: (A: 25%, D: 38.7%)
• Significantly better relationship between wage costs and productivity.
